‘Papa moet je horen wat Matilda allemaal al leest! Boeken voor grote mensen! En ze is vier jaar!’ Yessss ze is betoverd. Net als ik dat ooit was. In het jaar waarin Simcha gaat leren lezen op school zal Matilda hopelijk hèt boek zijn dat haar ongeduldig een boek in doet duiken en de liefde voor lezen aanwakkert. Het boek over het kleine slimme kleine meisje dat niet de hele dag tv wil kijken met een magnetronmaaltijd op schoot maar er tegen de wil van haar ouders voor kiest te verdwijnen in de avonturen van boeken. En die alle domme volwassenen die over haar heen walsen en haar potentie niet zien een lesje leert.
Als je mij vroeger vroeg wat ik wilde worden dan zei ik: ‘Roald Dahl’. Een schuurtje in kruipen ten midden van een tuin vol stokrozen, ridderspoor en klokjesbloemen met een grote mok Engelse thee met melk en daar uren lang verdwijnen om verhalen te schrijven die kinderen meenemen naar een hele andere magische wereld. En ze laten zien waar ze allemaal toe in staat zijn. En nu is Simcha eindelijk groot genoeg dat ik haar Matilda kan gaan voorlezen. Wat een moment.
Sinds een paar dagen gaat Simcha alleen naar beneden als ze vroeg wakker wordt. Ze heeft uitgevonden hoe ze de laptop aan moet zetten om iets te kijken. Maar al dagen vind ik haar ’s ochtends op de bank onder haar dekbed, omgeven door stapels boeken. Eindeloos bladert ze in de boeken die ze nog niet zelf lezen kan maar waar ze de verhalen zo goed van kent. Soms hoor ik van beneden ineens vlagen Doornroosje van Tsjaikovski en bladert ze in een boek met muziek. De laptop is dicht. Matilda oefent nu al haar toverkunsten uit hier in huis.

    <3 grote fans hier. Mijn man verheugt zich op weer jaren Dahl voorlezen aan de jongste. 3,5 is hij nu en ze zijn vorige week begonnen met de fantastische meneer Vos. Wat een verwondering en lol bij de peuter! Uren kan hij kijken naar de prachtige tekeningen van Quentin ablaze. Zelfs de groten luisteren weer mee (en die zijn echt al 16, 12 en 10)

  2. Heerlijk he. Het liefste lees ik de GVR met zijn eigen taaltje. Simcha vond De fantastische mijnheer Vos te eng omdat zijn staart eraf ging. Grappig is dat he dat ze met 3 jaar dingen minder eng vinden dan met 6. Zo ging Simcha met 3 jaar naar Vaiana in de bioscoop en durft ze nu niet naar Frozen 2. Ander besef van wat eng of spannend is. Hier kruipen mn stiefkinderen er ook bij als we Roald Dahl lezen! En die zijn al 26, 24 en 19! Echte familieknusheid die ons gezin definieert. Zalig te lezen dat het bij jullie ook zo is.
